Strong Growth for the 2007 Edition of EuroBiO

Strong Growth for the 2007 Edition of EuroBiO

With just a few weeks to go before the opening of EuroBiO 2007, the organizing team are delighted with the strong bookings from biotech/pharma companies and life science professionals from around the world. "Whether in terms of the speakers, exhibitors or participants in the Career Fair and business convention, we wish to thank the life science community and the bioindustry for their clear commitment to this major European meeting", added Etienne Vervaecke, Director of EuroBiO 2007.

Record figures for this year's EuroBiOpartnering business convention testify to the buoyant mood. More than 500 participants are expected to attend, half of whom are based outside France. EuroBiOpartnering focuses closely on technology transfer and acts as an interface between start-ups, mature companies and professionals & researchers from both the private and public sectors; the event aims to catalyse the emergence of Europe-wide collaborative projects. This year, more than 2,500 meetings are set to be scheduled over the 3-day event - around 50% more than for the 2006 edition.

EuroBiO also means an attractive seminar programme, with 150 internationally renowned speakers. The 4-track programme will tackle a wide range of scientific, organisational and managerial issues and will highlight the latest discoveries and trends in the pharma industry and other sectors.

The exhibition will also have a very international flavour. It will bring together almost 350 exhibitors in a 5000-m2 area – biotech stakeholders from Europe, North America and Asia are meeting up in Lille this year! As a new feature for 2007, product and corporate presentations will put the spotlight on the latest research work and corporate news. Chisso Corporation, a Japanese company, has chosen EuroBiO to launch its synthetic collagen in Europe. This will be the first time that company attends a European event. Tsuyoshi Nakama, from Chisso Corporation's Yokohama research centre, comments that "2007 is a very important year for us. We are promoting our synthetic collagen throughout Europe and the US; its formulation avoids the risk of contamination with pathogens like the prion that causes bovine spongiform encephalitis - a danger which is sometimes present with collagen derived from animal tissues. In Europe, we have decided to exhibit at EuroBiO, in view of the top-flight exhibitors present in 2006".

Lastly, the EuroBiO Career Fair will enable hundreds of job seekers to meet companies who are recruiting. The online profile/job offer matchmaking system is a powerful tool for facilitating on-site prearranged meetings. Hundreds of job opportunities in France and the rest of Europe are available - a clear reflection of the sector's growth.
