The Global Security Challenge (GSC)

The Technical Support Working Group, a technology coordinating organization co-chaired by the U.S. Departments of State and Defense, is a co-sponsor of the Global Security Challenge (GSC), a competition managed by MBA students at London Business School, together with several partner organizations in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States.

The goal of the Challenge is to identify and encourage start-up technology companies with innovative ideas in the fields of national security research and development and science and technology. The Challenge began with three semi-final competitions in September.

Five finalists - Auretix (UK), Eyemarker (USA), NoblePeak Vision (USA), Psyclock (Germany), and XID Technology (Singapore) -- were announced on Monday, October 29 and will participate in a final round of competition in London on November 8th. The final round of competition will determine one winner who will receive a $500,000 research grant provided by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Technical Support Working Group.

Featured speakers at the Finals include the former Chiefs of the U.S. National Security Agency and the United Kingdom's MI-6.

The GSC is an annual competition to find the most promising security start-up in the world. The founders have gained experience in the security technology sector with the U.S. National Security Council (NSC), IBM, and Sagem Défense Sécurité.
