Arctic Blast Will Surge From Tennessee To New York

Tomorrow Bitter Blast of Arctic Air and High Winds will Surge from Tennessee to New York

State College, Pa. -- January 29, 2008 -- AccuWeather.com reports the dam is breaking and a bitter blast of arctic air is surging in to the east from the northwest. This will cause temperatures to drop by as much as 40 degrees from Tennessee to upstate New York.

The dramatic change to colder weather will be accompanied by wind gusts as high as 60 miles per hour.

"When the cold wave hits Chicago late this afternoon, the moderately mild weather of today will be replaced by an onrushing flood tide of wind-driven cold air," AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Elliott Abrams said in his blog.

"In a matter of hours, temperatures will tumble to the teens, and face-freezing winds will sweep the cityscape. Not only that ... it will turn very cold real fast...temperatures in Pittsburgh will be 20-30 degrees lower at midday tomorrow than they are today, the change in New York City may not be much more than 10 degrees."
