Ban Deplores Terrorist Car Bombings In Spain

Ban deplores terrorist car bombings in Spain

22 September 2008 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today strongly condemned the series of car bombings in northern Spain over the past two days that have left at least one person dead and wounded several others.

“He expresses his sympathy for the victims and their families, and his solidarity with the Government and people of Spain in the face of such terrorist violence,” Mr. Ban’s spokesperson said in a statement.

Media reports say an army officer was killed and six people were injured after a car bombing this morning outside an army academy in the town of Santona.

On Sunday a car bomb exploded in the town of Vitoria, causing damage but no injuries. A second bomb exploded in Ondarroa, wounding at least 10 people.
