Hoteliers Experience Economic Security in Numbers
Despite the current economic uncertainty, hotel owners are finding security in numbers from being a member in the Best Western group. The hotel chain’s bookings have been increasing consistently.
Since December 2008, Best Western’s online bookings for New Zealand properties have increased substantially, reaching a peak in total business earned during February, March and April.
“Our members see the value in being part of a larger group,” says Robert Anderson, Chief Executive of Best Western Australasia. “Best Western gives them access to a wider customer base and a range of services they are unable to access as an independent operator. Ultimately, this means they receive greater revenue and financial security.”
Currently, Best Western Australasia has 200 properties in Australia and 11 in New Zealand and, by pooling skills and resources, the group works to increase the business of each property.
“Best Western is a co-op that works to improve our members’ business in many ways,” Anderson says, “We successfully promote our properties through our online, print and broadcast channels, we give our properties access to worldwide booking channels (websites, GDS and the Best Western call centre) and our Quality Assurance program helps members improve their hotel design, maintenance and amenities,” he says.
“Joining Best Western is one of the best decisions we have ever made,” says John Wong, owner of the Best Western President Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand. “The emphasis is on letting members take control of their business by using the Best Western brand, its systems and global networks. I don’t know of another international hotel chain operating like them.”
