Cruise Ships Set Course for South Africa in 2010

6th November 2009

Johannesburg, South Africa – Cyclone Group, world-leaders in specialised sports tours for major global sporting events, today announced their agreement as official agent for Africa to the “One Ocean Club” concept on board the luxurious Holland America Line cruise ships during the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.

The sister ships, MS Noordam and MS Westerdam – the pride and joy of the magnificent Holland America Line fleet - are both rated among the Top-20 cruise ships in the world and are worthy recipients of the “International 5-Star Diamond Award” for quality and service. During the period of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, Noordam and Westerdam will be sailing between the ports of Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban, serving as a prime location for accommodation, entertainment and recreation.

The One Ocean Club “cruise flotel” is a proven concept from the 2004 Athens Olympics, and for 2010, guests can look forward to being a part of one of the most secure luxury clubs & hotels in South Africa, whilst never being more than 15 minutes transfer time from port to the stadiums, a major advantage for discerning travellers.

Comments James Blewman, Executive Director of Cyclone Group, also an authorised sales agent in Australia and New Zealand of MATCH Hospitality for the Official Hospitality Programme of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, “We are proud to partner with One Ocean Club in order to provide access to exclusive, specialised sports tour solutions for our discerning clientele from across the globe. Cyclone Group guests will benefit from the complete set of infrastructure in place, including 24 hour transfers, shuttle services and VIP security. The cruise ships are a unique and upmarket addition to one of the most beautiful countries in the world during the single greatest sports event.”

Besides offering contemporary amenities and modern enhancements, combined with unsurpassed 5-star hospitality and service, each cruise ship has a world-class fitness centre, salon & spa, swimming pools, casinos, night clubs, theatre, library, four restaurants and eleven bars. Guests also have access to a state-of-the-art business centre, conference venue and meeting room facilities.

As the key match approaches against Bahrain in Wellington on November 14, New Zealand is evenly poised to repeat the feats of the famous 1982 team which qualified for the tournament in Spain –this was the last time a Kiwi team played in a FIFA World Cup™.

The indelible images from 1982 of iconic Kiwis such as Wynton Rufer, Grant Turner and John Adshead, after they defied the odds to beat China 2-1, and qualify for the finals in Spain, still puts a lump in the throat of most New Zealand sports fans – the impossible dream became a fairytale.

New Zealand Football is once again on an all-time high as the U17s recently proceeded to the final sixteen of the U17 FIFA World Cup in Nigeria™ with a stunning 1-1 draw with Turkey.

Can the All Whites underdogs once again captivate the hopes of a nation by beating Bahrain in Wellington?

Demand for accommodation is already running high and supporters who don’t want to miss out should make provisional bookings now, before the draw on 4th December, now less than five weeks away!

Cyclone Group is making more than just waves in the specialised sports tour market, following the recent announcement of their appointment by MATCH Hospitality as an authorised sales agent in Australia & New Zealand for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ Official Hospitality Programme.

UN News: Aid Access Is Key Priority

Among the key issues facing diplomats is securing the release of a reported 199 Israeli hostages, seized during the Hamas raid. “History is watching,” says Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths. “This war was started by taking those hostages. Of course, there's a history between Palestinian people and the Israeli people, and I'm not denying any of that. But that act alone lit a fire, which can only be put out with the release of those hostages.” More

Save The Children: Four Earthquakes In a Week Leave Thousands Homeless

Families in western Afghanistan are reeling after a fourth earthquake hit Herat Province, crumbling buildings and forcing people to flee once again, with thousands now living in tents exposed to fierce winds and dust storms. The latest 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit 30 km outside of Herat on Sunday, shattering communities still reeling from strong and shallow aftershocks. More

UN News: Nowhere To Go In Gaza

UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said some 1.1M people would be expected to leave northern Gaza and that such a movement would be “impossible” without devastating humanitarian consequences and appeals for the order to be rescinded. The WHO joined the call for Israel to rescind the relocation order, which amounted to a “death sentence” for many. More

Access Now: Telecom Blackout In Gaza An Attack On Human Rights

By October 10, reports indicated that fixed-line internet, mobile data, SMS, telephone, and TV networks are all seriously compromised. With significant and increasing damage to the electrical grid, orders by the Israeli Ministry of Energy to stop supplying electricity and the last remaining power station now out of fuel, many are no longer able to charge devices that are essential to communicate and access information.
