SUVA (All Headline News/Pacific Media Watch): The Fiji government confirmed Wednesday it is still working on a draft of the Media Industry Development Decree.

The decree requires the registration of all media outlets in the country and establishes a tribunal to investigate complaints against the media.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told journalists in Suva there had been “various participants" involved in writing the document.

“We are currently transcribing all the discussions that took place and all those who participated will be given copies of the transcript,” he said.

A date is yet to be set on when the decree will become effective.
