ANZCCJ To Chair Australian Business Asia

The Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan Assumes Chairmanship and Secretariat for Australian Business Asia

Opportunity to boost Japan's profile - a country that holds huge potential for Australian business

Tokyo, Jan 23, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - The Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ) has taken over Chairmanship and Secretariat for Australian Business Asia (ABA) from AustCham Singapore. Melanie Brock, Chair of ANZCCJ, has been appointed Chair and the ANZCCJ will host the Secretariat.

ABA is a group of 16 Australian chambers of commerce and business councils throughout Asia, with the mission to provide a collective voice for Australian business operating throughout the region. ABA provides a platform for collectively voicing the opinions of member Chambers and Councils on issues relevant to Australian business in Asia.

"The transferal of the Chairmanship to ANZCCJ represents an opportunity to build the profile of our Chamber in the region, and increase attention to Japan - a key trading partner for Australia and a country that holds so much potential for Australian business growth," said Melanie Brock. "I look forward greatly to working with the member Chambers and Councils in bringing a strong voice to matters that concern us all in this rapidly growing region."

Japan represents Australia's second largest export market and third largest import market. Trade between the two nations continues to grow year on year, a trend which can be expected to continue as Japan considers more open platforms for trade.
