Nigeria: President Jonathan's Fate in 2015 Uncertain
2015: Jonathan's Fate
Uncertain
THE political future of
President Goodluck Jonathan whose foot soldiers are locked
in a messy battle with Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers
State, is at the moment very uncertain.
With a
cracked homebase over the Amaechi affair, and the growing
support for the Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Animu Tambuwal, the best option for the president is a safe
exit plan.
Apart from Tambuwal, former Head of
State, Muhammadu Buhari, is equally enjoying a growing
support from the power calculus shaping the affairs of the
country.
In the mean time, at the weekend Reps
shored up the support base for Tambuwal's presidential
bid, pointing out that the speaker has what it takes to
lead the country.
Deputy Chair of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Victor Ogene, who made this development known said Tambuwal has proved to be a transparent and dynamic leader as speaker of the lower chamber of the bicameral National Assembly in the last two years, and as such, ''he can take a shot at the highest office in the land''.
He claimed that Tambuwal has other numerous credentials that qualify him to vie for the post, adding, ''as it stands today, Tambuwal has displayed good leadership in the House of Reps, it is only left for Nigerians to determine who will lead them in 2015. Though he has not told us about this, but leadership is done by the people." ENDS
