More Families Repatriated with Kits

More Families Repatriated with Kits

As the repatriation of flood victims continues throughout the week, more families have been given repatriation kits and food supplies to support them during the rehabilitation process.

The steady repatriation process has also seen the reduction of Evacuation Centers as the numbers of IDP’s reduced on daily basis.

A considerable number of affected families have also been assisted to return to their home provinces.

Co-chair for the Welfare and Internally Displaced People’s (IDP) Clusters, Aseri Yalangono said an average of 10-12 families have been repatriated every day during the week.

Currently, the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has established an
arrangement with families to return to clean up and replant their crops while continuing to receive food supplies from the Government and other humanitarian agencies.

This arrangement will remain in place until families are able to harvest their first crops.

Meanwhile, feeding programs at the remaining evacuation centers is ongoing.
