In the east from Gisborne to Wairarapa: Showers and gusty southerlies spreading north. Snow lowering about the ranges.

Wellington. Cold and showery with snow to the main ranges.

Nelson and the South Island west coast: Showers, clearing from the south later.

Marlborough to Otago also for Southland: Becoming fine inland Today with frosts to sheltered places tonight. About the coast, remaining showery.

Chatham Islands: Rain easing to showers and cold southerlies this morning.
