Cory Jane Wins Upper Hutt City Sports Awards ( Plus Rest Of Winners )


Upper Hutt and Hurricanes rugby player and Sportsman of theYear Cory Jane won overall Sportsperson of the Year in the Upper Hutt Sports Awards announced last night (Saturday 28 April).

Sarah-Jane Jones, artistic roller skater, was the Sportswoman of the Year. Her achievements in the last year included a bronze medal at the World Championships in Spain. She is the only New Zealander to ever win three World artistic medals.

The Upper Hutt Rifle Club - Gold Team - took out the Team of the Year award.

There were 52 nominations across 19 sporting codes from karate through to speedway.
