Hutt City Council holds its inaugural meeting for the 2025-28 triennium at the Lower Hutt Town Hall on Wednesday 29 October from 5.30pm.

The meeting will be livestreamed on Council’s YouTube page and will include key ceremonial and statutory proceedings that formally mark the start of the new Council term.

Agenda items include:

• Statutory declaration by the Mayor-elect
• Statutory declarations by Councillors-elect
• Statutory declarations by members-elect of the Eastbourne and Wainuiomata community boards
• Appointment of the Deputy Mayor

Council Chief Executive Jo Miller says the meeting is an important milestone for the city.

"Local democracy is at the heart of how we serve our community. This first meeting is where elected members formally take office and commit to working together for Lower Hutt’s people and future."

The public is encouraged to attend or tune in online to watch their new Council take its first official steps for the term ahead.
