$300 Cost Of Exercising Dogs From Vehicles

Two dog owners are paying the cost of exercising their four-legged friends from moving vehicles in public, following a change to Masterton's Control of Dogs bylaw in June that outlawed the activity.

Each has been issued a $300 infringement notice.

The activity is not only dangerous because owners must be in control of dogs at all times in public, but also poses a risk to dogs from other traffic, and causes a potential distraction for other drivers.

Anyone noticing such activity should report it to the Council, including the registration of the vehicles involved.
