The Coming Christmas In The Quarters Is Clause For Celebration
The silly season is coming to town, kicking-off with Christmas in the Quarters and its four weekends of festive fun for everyone.

Brought to you by Wellington City Council, there'll be four free, whānau-friendly and different themed events across four locations in Pōneke.
They’ll be on every Saturday (weather permitting) between 22 November and 13 December from 11am – 5pm.
- Saturday 22 November – Mahi Toi Crafts at Midland Park – get creative with Christmas crafts, face painting, and pop your wish list in Santa’s letterbox.
- Saturday 29 November – Whakaaturanga Music & Performances at Glover Park – enjoy live Christmas music and performances, face painting, and all the festive vibes.
- Saturday 6 December – Maninirau Circus act and street busking at Queens Wharf –come along for all the fun of the circus, plus face painting, a touch of fire, and don’t forget to post your letter to Santa in the special letterbox.
- Saturday 13 December – Hana Kōkō Santa and Activities at Waitangi Park – meet Santa and take a selfie with him in his sleigh, plus enjoy a fun range of activities, including ice skating, the snowball globe, foam pit, live music, face painting, and caricatures.
- Saturday 13 December (5pm-7pm) – Carols in the Park in Waitangi Park – join Nick Tansley and Friends for a Christmas Carols sing-along!
Please note that the Avatar film premiere will be on Saturday 13 December, which will include some road closures around the Embassy Theatre throughout the day and night. Full information about closures and diversions will be available at wellington.govt.nz/street-event-closure in the coming weeks.

As it’ll be busy in the city during these events, we encourage people to walk, bike or use public transport where possible.
There are no postponement dates for the events, except for the main event on Saturday 13 December, which would see daytime activities move to Sunday 14 December, but not the Carols in the Park.
Christmas in the Quarters is free, with all events accessible, and public toilets on site. For more event details and the full programme visit wellington.govt.nz/christmas
On Saturday 29 November the Cuba Street Summer Series is back with a series of free, open-street activations designed to celebrate community, creativity, and the unique vibrancy of Cuba Street. Come to the Christmas market from 10am-5pm, on Cuba Street between Ghuznee and Vivian Streets. Bike valet will be available.
Visit Wellington City Council’s Events & Festivals section for more information at wellington.govt.nz/events or Facebook events pages for cancellations or postponement information.
