State Highway 79 in the South Canterbury town of Geraldine has been closed following a vehicle crash that involves power lines.

The incident happened late this morning on SH79/Cox Street near the intersection with Lewis Street. Emergency services are at the scene.

SH79/Cox Street is now closed between Lewis Street and Wright Street. Road users are asked to avoid the area or use an alternative route.
