SH79 Closure In South Canterbury After Crash

State Highway 79 in the South Canterbury town of Geraldine has been closed following a vehicle crash that involves power lines.
The incident happened late this morning on SH79/Cox Street near the intersection with Lewis Street. Emergency services are at the scene.
SH79/Cox Street is now closed between Inland Scenic Route 72/Talbot Street and Kennedy Street. Road users are asked to avoid the area or use the available detour: For northbound traffic, take a right turn onto Kennedy Street, left onto Inland Scenic Route 72/Talbot Street to rejoin onto State Highway 79. The reverse applies for southbound. This detour is suitable for heavy vehicles.
