The Council on Hemispheric Affairs
is proud to congratulate COHA Senior Research Fellow Greg
Grandin for the recent recognition by the editors of the New
York Times Book Review. On December 6, his nonfiction book,
entitled Fordlandia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford’s
Forgotten Jungle City, was listed among the 100 Most Notable
Books of 2009. Dr. Grandin’s book examines Henry Ford’s
failed attempt to establish a utopian American society on a
rubber plantation in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest.
Grandin, who is a professor of History at NYU, also served
as a COHA intern while an
undergraduate.
