Isabel has left over 1 million people without power tonight in both North Carolina and Virginia. That is twice as many people as our most recent hurricane, Floyd. Isabel is continuing to the northwest with a little bit less power than she began with, thanks to the North Carolina coast.

One woman in Raleigh was critically injured when an oak tree fell on her car after she left work early. There have been tornado warnings in some local counties. Many local schools are closed tomorrow. North Carolina State University has is operating under the adverse weather policy. Other major universities in the Triangle region are following suit.

I can't empasize enough the difference between this hurricane and hurricane Fran in 1996. Fran destroyed everything. It was unbelievable. Isabel was kind to Raleigh.

We are still getting rain and 35 mph gusts. Things should quiet down later tonight. Tomorrow is expected to be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80's! I will be happy to see the sunshine again. Farewell Isabel.
