Suspicious package near Parliament not dangerous
The suspicious package found on Bowen Street earlier this afternoon, was found to be a suitcase containing clothing and personal items.
Police were alerted to a suspicious package on Bowen Street, between Lambton Quay and The Terrace, by Parliamentary Services at around 1:10pm this afternoon.
Cordons have now been lifted around Bowen Street, The Terrace, Lambton Quay, Molesworth Street and Kate Sheppard Place.
The incident involved the expertise of Police, the Army Bomb Squad, and the Joint Forces Explosives Group.
