Behold the Year of Rap… pin’ on the Fringe

Being the leaders of style, doyens of culture and the harbingers of cool that they are, Fringe 07 has anointed 2007 to be the Year of Rap, and to celebrate Fringe 07 is proud to present Rappin on the Fringe.

Rappin on the Fringe, presented by RadioActive 89FM and C4, is the sequel to last year’s wildly successful Rockin’ on the Fringe live music event, and will be held this Saturday February 10 at Wellington’s San Francisco Bathhouse.

And the door charge? Nothin’. It’s a free event.

“The Fringe Festival represents the cutting edge of culture, so what better way to foretell the future of music than to present Rappin’ On The Fringe,” said Fringe 07 director Karen Blyth.

“We’re talking about pure, unadulterated rap. Not hip-hop, r’n’b or gangsta; just the most dopest, bumpin’, grinding rap music from the old skool.

“The super-hawt line-up for Rappin’ on the Fringe includes Coco Solid, Tommy Ill and the Mega Chain Gang DJs with the Real Hot Bitches dancers along to shake their collective bootie. And it’s free so there’s just no excuse to miss it,” she said.

Rappin’ On The Fringe is one of the free Fringe-Made events for the New Zealand Fringe Festival. Other highlights include Fricnic, presented by Cadbury Picnic, Chalk the Walk and the closing night awards ceremony and party.

“With our Fringe-Made events, the public space events and the hundreds of shows happening when the festival kicks off this week, Wellington is turning a deep shade of Fringe for four weeks,” said Ms Blyth.
