"Along the same line"
The Southern Cross’s fairly recent artist gallery will soon be kited out with some fantastic new artworks by Dan and Serena Wilkinson. They have spent recent months burning the midnight oil, juggling their jobs at New Zealand's largest arts provider “the Learning Conexion” with looking after their 15-month old son Austin.
The up and coming artists have enjoyed exhibiting regularly in the last decade, and have been involved in numerous group shows.
After joining the Nautilus studios in Owhiro Bay last may, they have quickly realised how much of an impact the local environment has had on them. They have decided to both use the magical and mighty south coast as the theme for their exhibition.
While Dan has been focusing on the local waterways and its intriguing shapes and patterns, Serena has been inspired by her walk-abouts along the coast and has chosen to capture the ‘four seasons in one day’ quality that you get with the fast paced wind channel of the cook straight.
The exhibition runs at the Cross on Able Smith St from the 6th of February and finishes at the end of the month.
