Vincents Art Workshop celebrates Silver Jubilee at Fringe 2010!

Vincents Art Workshop will launch the first of many celebrations for their 25th anniversary at the 20th New Zealand Fringe Festival on Saturday 13th February. Included during the day will be; guided tours of the studios, free art focus activities, silver cupcakes for a donation and an exhibition opening. The day will have themes of silver and celebration. The exhibition will run for the duration of the Fringe Festival and will close on Friday 5th March.

This event was announced on 11th November last year by His Excellency, The Honourable Sir Anand Satyanand Governor-General at the opening of the Vincents Annual Group Exhibition at the St James Theatre Gallery.

Vincents has been actively involved with the Wellington Fringe Festival during the last twenty years and is also well known for many other community event involvements in Wellington. Currently Vincents is the recipient of seven awards; four were received in 2009. Two recent award highlights were a silver cup for the best overall illuminated float in the Cuba St Carnival Illuminated Night Parade and for the Winner in the Arts and Culture category of the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards.

Vincents is the oldest ‘Creative Space’ in New Zealand and is famous for providing access to creative expression to all people in Wellington with a particular focus for people with disabilities; Vincents thrives on this diversity.

Many Vincents’ artists have achieved national and international recognition and success and others have transformed their lives due to their creative and personal development at Vincents.
