Art Fest: Eraritjaritjaka director Heiner Goebbels

Arts Festival Preview: Eraritjaritjaka director Heiner Goebbels

Interview with Lyndon Hood

Heiner Goebbels

Director and composer Heiner Goebbels spoke to Scoop's Lyndon Hood today about his production Eraritjaritjaka - Museum of Phrases. The work is based on text by Nobel prize-winner Elias Canetti and includes performances by actor André Wilms and the Mondriaan Quartet, as well as featuring live video, sound and lighting.

Goebbels discusses the production, the idea of allowing each element of the production his full value, and how he came from his experience of Elias Canetti's notebooks to the full performance. His also describes his work with students as a Professor at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen.

Eraritjaritjaka is at the International Festival of the Arts from 24 - 26 February. Goebbels will take part in a pre-show dialogue on the 25th.
