Most Controversial, Most Powerful, Bush The Great

Most Controversial - Most Powerful - ‘Bush The Great’

By Tanveer Jafri - India

The president of United States of America, George W. Bush may consider himself the most powerful and the best statesman of the world but in reality he stands at the top of the list of controversial leaders. He is constantly under the controversy just for the steps taken to encounter the terrorist attack on 11September. Today the reason of his being more controversial is the vague and policies lacking result, to fight terrorism being adopted by him. Because of the controversial nature of George Bush, he has to face great opposition and hatred in most of the countries. Why do the common people hate his figure at the time when the presidents of the host countries are giving, a red carpet reception to the most powerful ruler of the world? Why do people burn his effigies, insult him and call his name with abuse at every place?

In the last few days, ‘the most powerful’ George Bush traveled south Asian region, considered to be the axis of terrorism, which is India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. During his visit to India, the president signed some historic nuclear agreements. Undoubtedly, the rulers of India are taking it as a great achievement. But the allies in the Central Government of India, the left parties liked neither this nuclear agreement nor his visit to India. Remember able that present government of India is being run with the help of left parties. At such occasions, if Central Government hosts any foreign guest or if there is his reception at the government level, then ruling Congress & his main allies the left parties will be considered at equal parts. But the reception in the honour of ‘Bush The Great’ was unique.

The ruling left parties didn’t give a warm welcome but a nationwide opposition to Bush. As far as the dinner hosted in the honour of American president is considered, the left party leaders didn’t attend it. These ruling left parties staged opposition rallies from Delhi to Hyderabad against Bush. It wasn’t so that these protest demonstrations were hold only by left parties, the common people were also seen furious against the policies of George Bush. The banners in the hands if demonstrators were having the words- “Killer of innocent Iraq Children, Go back” “Bush is “Wanted” for crime against humanity.” In Delhi, more than one lac people took part in demonstration against Bush & raised slogans against Bush as, “Bush, go back.” This rally was addressed by an Ex- Prime Minister of India, Vishwanath Pratap Singh & many leaders of the political parties & even by intelligentsia. The so called policies of George Bush, against terrorism were strongly criticized. In New Delhi, a speaker while addressing anti-Bush rally, even, said, “To welcome Bush is to welcome a killer. His arrival in India has made this soil of saints, unholy.” Many speakers were addressing George Bush as the greatest terrorist of the world. Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, a main Indian University organized dramas & seminars against Bush & showed their protest & anger by reading poems, movies showing the atrocities of America were displayed at many places in the country. A leading newspaper of India published a cartoon in which it was shown that Dr. Manmohan Singh was standing with all the precious gifts in a plate to please his guest Bush. Whereas, the guest Bush had already a big plate in front of him, in which the earth was in a decorated state. The face expression of the great Bush showed as if he was saying, “Oh, Mr. Prime Minister why this much welcome, I have already all the comforts of earth before me.”

During Bush’s visit, keeping in view of terrorism, very strict security measures were adopted In India but under the cover of security some unpleasant steps were also taken by American security agencies that hurt the pride of India. While visiting the shrine of the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the hero of freedom of India, at RajGhat in New Delhi, Every leader of the world, during his visit to India, pays his homage & bows his head in reverence before this apostle of non-violence. Obviously Bush was also one of the lucky visitors of this place. But before his reaching this place, the dogs, being used for his security measures searched thoroughly into this place. Probably, it may be the first misfortunate instance of taking a dog to such a place of worship & of man who is a synonym of truth & non-violence. In Indian Parliament, there was a great pandemonium, against this insulting action by the American security agencies. The members of parliament wanted that Bush should beg his pardon for this. But the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is well known for his simplicity, gentleness, sweet talking & shy nature, ignored even his protocol at the airport & greeted this most powerful man. These feelings of Indian Prime Minister couldn’t win goodwill instead he had to pass through his so called search process.

A faction that considers the race of nukes & dependence on weapons as strength of the nation may be satisfied with the agreement of George Bush with India but there is a disappointing aspect of the picture also. The people who favor the non-proliferation, who in reality talk of peace & calmness, didn’t like this agreement with India. Even in America, many parliamentarians accused Bush, saying, “This historic nuclear treaty with India by Bush is a breach of trust with aims of non-proliferation in the world.” Paradoxically, on one side George Bush doubts the nuclear programme of Iran & sees the war clouds in this matter & secondly the same great Bush is gifting India & Pakistan with Nuclear Treaty & fatal weapons to be used as nuclear weapons & encouraging the dangers of war in South Asia.

As the world is divided in different factions & George Bush is succeeding towards his undeclared goals, but in reality he is unmarked now. The entire world knows that Bush’s talk of facing the terrorism is mere an empty show. In reality, Bush’s aim is to have a control over the Middle East & Arab world which has abundant of natural oil resources. After uprooting Saddam Hussain from rule, America unchecked is exploiting the oil resources of Iraq & the local people are a prey to the rule, sectorism & regionalism. In the name of removal of Saddam Hussain as a ruler & because of the so said kindness & anti-terrorist activity of George Bush more than one lac innocent people of Iraq have been killed. But there is no effect of these things on the ‘Bush The Great’. He, according to his undeclared policy, wanted the American control over the oil resources of Iraq & he has got that.

Now Great Bush has its vulture’s eye on the natural oil resources of Iran. Just like fatal armaments of Iraq, which couldn’t be found, for Iran too, Bush has only a pretension of nuclear weapons. Rather it is a good chance for American strategy when American soldiers with their armaments, are quite near to Iran. America has given the world, presidents like Abraham Lincon & George Washington, who are revered even today. But probably George W. Bush 2 is the only leader in the world, who because of his double policies, is not only at the top of controversial leaders of the world. But his understanding, strategy & statesmanship is seen with doubt by the experts of international politics. Now it is the need of the that the other countries of the world should same themselves from the manoeuvring policies of George Bush instead of thinking themselves obliged by the kindness shown by ‘The Great Bush.’
