A Question Of Privilege

The Privileges Committee report into how private information was handed over to a prime ministerial inquiry will be debated in Parliament this afternoon.

Following Question Time and the General Debate, MPs are scheduled to debate the Interim report on Question of privilege regarding use of intrusive powers within the parliamentary precinct. This is an open ended debate with 10 minute speeches.

Today is a Members Day, though two local bills will eat into the time available.

First up is the committee stage of the Kaipara District Council (Validation of Rates and Other Matters) Bill, though this will be followed immediately by the bill’s third reading without debate to get it into law before Christmas.

The bill was supported by all parties except NZ First and Mana.

This will be followed by the second reading of the Tasman District Council (Validation and Recovery of Certain Rates) Bill.

If there is time available, it is likely the Government and others will shoot down the Green’s Resource Management (Restricted Duration of Certain Discharge and Coastal Permits) Amendment Bill at its second reading.
