Priority Going To Tax

The Government will give priority to a tax bill when the House sits next week.

Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said the Government would be seeking to progress the Taxation (Annual Rates, Foreign Superannuation, and Remedial Matters) Bill and Student Loan Scheme Amendment Bill (No 3).

Wednesday would be a Members’ Day and the House sit will sit on Thursday morning to progress a number of Treaty settlement bills.

The Road Safety Trust’s annual report and the Auditor-General’s report on maintaining a future focus on Crown companies were presented.

A number of select committee reports were presented, including:

2012/13 financial review of Callaghan Innovation by the Education and Science Committee

2012/13 financial review of Education New Zealand. The Institute of Environmental Science and Research Limited, the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Limited, Landcare Research New Zealand Limited, Learning Media Limited, the National Institute by the Education and Science Committee

2012/13 financial review of the Health Promotion Agency by the Health Committee

2012/13 financial review of the New Zealand Forest Research Institute Limited by the Education and Science Committee

Report from the Controller and Auditor-General, Central Government: Results of the 2012/13 audits (Volume 1) by the Finance and Expenditure Committee.
