Accident in Afghanistan – 2nd NZDF Statement
The New Zealand Defence Force has released the name of the soldier killed in a motor accident in Afghanistan yesterday.
Private Kirifi Mila was travelling in a vehicle in a convoy operating in the North East of Bamyan as part of the Provincial Reconstruction Team and died after his vehicle rolled off the road down a steep cliff.

PTE Mila was deployed to Afghanistan last year and is part of the 2nd 1st Battalion , Royal New Zeland Infantry Regiment of the NZ Army based in Burnham Military Camp. He was born on 3 February 1984 and joined the NZ Defence Force in 2006.
His brother is also a serving member of the NZ Army. Further details will be sent when they come to hand.
Pte Mila was a popular member of the unit who was well known as a colourful character. He will be sorely missed by his comrades.
