Spark to credit costs of calls and texts to Tonga and
Samoa
Spark announced today it will credit its customers for the cost of landline and mobile calls and texts to Tonga and Samoa in the aftermath of Cyclone Gita.
Spark CEO for Home, Mobile and Business Grant McBeath said: “Our thoughts are with the people of Tonga and Samoa, and those New Zealanders who have family in the islands.”
“We know many people will be desperately trying to get in touch with friends and family to make sure they’re safe, especially over the coming days. This is just a small thing we can do to help out.”
The credit will apply to all New Zealand landline and mobile calls and texts, made to Tonga or Samoa from 9am (NZT) Tuesday 13 February until 9am (NZT) Thursday 15 February.
The credits will be retrospectively applied to customers’ accounts in either their March or April bill, depending on their bill cycle – so customers do not need to do anything.
