LearningHow To Do Their Bit For The Environment
Residents invited to learn how to do their bit for the
environment
April 17, 2003
North Shore City Council and the Kaipatiki Ecological Restoration Project (KERP) are offering local residents the opportunity to learn how they can make their households sustainable for the good of the environment.
The sustainable households programme is a national project that aims to introduce people to key environmental issues, help people protect and improve their health, help them reduce the impact they have on the environment and, potentially, to save money.
The programme is made up of eight sessions that are held fortnightly and cover topics such as waste, energy, water, shopping, gardening and transport. It is a hands-on programme in which participants are asked to trial alternative products and methods, and to suggest some of their own to help the environment.
The next sustainable households course begins on May 1 between 6.30 - 8.30pm and is being held at the KERP education centre in Birkdale. There is a $30 charge for the eight session course and people are invited to register by contacting KERP on 482 1172.
