Manurewa Food Premises Achieve Excellent Grades
Manurewa Food Premises Achieve Excellent
Grades
Manukau City Council congratulates all the food premises in Manurewa Ward who received "A" grade ratings during May's food hygiene inspections. The percentage of "A" grades issued has risen from 85.5% to 92% in the last six months. Over 30 premises improved their grades since November 2002. There was a significant improvement in "E" grades 11 down from 16 (4% down from 6%).
Environmental Health Team Leader, Ian Milnes says, "This is an excellent result, well done to all the food premises owners in Manurewa who received A grades. We are pleased to see that they are making a wonderful effort to maintain hygiene standards."
Mr Milnes says that it is extremely pleasing to see the public acting as watchdogs on hygiene quality. He says that Council regularly receives enquiries from consumers passing on concerns about food hygiene practices.
The public can check the Food Grading Certificate List on Council's website www.manukau.govt.nz, at their local library or by calling Council's 24x7 Call Centre 262 5104.
The certificates are A4 sized, printed in colour and with the rating figure displayed prominently in large print.
