Only Four Weeks Left To Register Your Dog
Only Four Weeks Left To Register Your Dog
Council is asking all dog owners in the City to be responsible owners and register their dogs by 31 July.
Dog owners who register their dogs by 31 July automatically enter a draw to win one of three prize packs of dog food and related products worth $200 each. Winners will be drawn in August.
As of 31 May 2003 there were approximately 19,000 known dogs within the City. Max and Sam were two of the most popular names given to dogs.
Council says it will be taking a tougher stance against unregistered owners after 31 July because unregistered dogs are the cause of the majority of dog related complaints reported to Council - 90% of all roaming dogs seized are unregistered.
Instead of a warning
as in previous years, owners of unregistered dogs will be
issued with an instant $200 fine, in addition to a higher
registration fee of $100. Approved Dog Owners who fail to
register their dog by 31 July will lose this status and the
privilege of paying a reduced registration fee of
$40.
