Christmas Coming Up Roses For Housing For The Elderly
Tenants in some of Manukau City Council’s Housing for the Elderly units received a very special gift this week from a supplier to the Ellerslie Flower Show.
Two hundred potted rose plants used for site beautification at the Flower Show have been donated to Housing for the Elderly tenants in the Manurewa and Mangere areas by Matthews Nurseries of Wanganui.
Housing for the Elderly Administrator Judith Telford was delighted by the reaction of tenants to this very generous gift. She says, “Council staff were overwhelmed by the response they received when they delivered the roses. One of them said it bought tears to his eyes to see the joyful reaction he received from tenants - lots of hugs and smiles.
“The tenants are preparing a thank you card for us to pass on to Matthews Nurseries. As we prepare for Christmas, the generosity and thoughtfulness of this company reinforces the spirit of the festive season and has brightened the lives of many of our elderly residents”, says Ms Telford.
