Te Papa holds a Marketing workshop in Wanganui
National Services Te Paerangi of The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa is holding a workshop entitled Writing a marketing plan in Wanganui on Friday 1 May 2009 at the Whanganui Regional Museum.
The workshop is aimed at museums, arts, heritage, and iwi organisations and others in the region to learn useful new skills and share ideas. People will be attending from Whanganui Regional Museum, Uri Whakataupuranga Ratana Archives, Whanganui Riverboat Centre, Artex, Te Manawa and the Taranaki Aviation Transport & Technology Museum.
Yvonne O’Connor, the local coordinator said today "To be given the opportunity to spend a day with a specialist consultant who will assist our small organisations with establishing a marketing plan is very beneficial. We all look forward to moving our campaigns forward after a days coaching with Jo”.
The workshop will be presented by Jo Doherty who is a specialist marketing consultant with 18 years experience in the cultural and tourism sectors. Jo was previously Marketing Manager for Te Papa, and now runs her own consultancy and has worked with a range of organisations, large and small.
Jo Doherty said today “Many organisations in the arts and cultural sector are small, and resources are tight. They often don’t have a specialist marketing person on their staff. This hands-on workshop is a great opportunity to give people from those organisations some practical tips and low cost tools to get the message out about their exhibitions, events, and organisations as a whole.”
National Services Te Paerangi works with Te Papa and their mission is to strengthen the museum sector by providing practical and strategic help to museums and iwi throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. Our goal is for museums and iwi to be significantly strengthened by increased participation in our programmes and by working collaboratively at a local and national level.
Writing a marketing plan workshop, 9.30am–4.30pm, Friday 1 May 2009, Whanganui Regional Museum, Watt Street, Wanganui
