Vessel Refloated in Harbour Entrance
At 10.35 am today, the MV Schelde Trader, a 133 metre container vessel, lost power and went aground just north of North Rock around the base of Mount Maunganui, on departure from the Port of Tauranga.
The vessel has been re-floated and is currently under the control of tugs outside the harbour entrance. It is planned to bring the vessel back into the harbour for inspection and investigation when it is safe to do so. No oil has leaked from the vessel.
