Nelson region Holiday Parks open for business

Nelson region Holiday Parks open for business

Holidaymakers are being reassured they can look forward to a great Christmas break in the Nelson region’s holiday parks.

“Nearly all the region’s holiday parks are open for business and ready to welcome the summer crowds,” Holiday Accommodation Parks Association of NZ Chief Executive Fergus Brown says.

Of the 22 holiday parks around the Nelson area, only five have been impacted by this week’s flooding.

“If you have a booking to stay at one of the affected parks, check with them for updates. But we expect that most people will be able to go ahead with their holidays as planned,” Mr Brown says.

The five affected holiday parks are:

• Pohara Beach TOP 10 – currently closed as they do not have water or sewerage. Work is underway to rectify this. It is hoped the park will reopen in the next few days.

• Cable Bay Farm & Holiday Park – no power and no access at the moment.

• Collingwood Motor Camp and Golden Bay Holiday Park in Tukurua – both are operating but access is a problem at present.

• Maitai Valley Motor Camp – operating but access is by 4WD vehicles only.

Visitors booked to stay with these parks should check with the holiday park for updates.

“Holiday park and camping ground accommodation is incredibly popular in the Nelson region and our parks are looking forward to welcoming Kiwi families for what is the iconic New Zealand summer holiday,” Mr Brown says.
