Press Release: Port of Tauranga Limited

Port of Tauranga Status
Update
The aft section of the Rena has sunk on
the reef this morning; consequently we have not yet heard
back from the Harbourmaster on the recommended shipping
route to the port.
The salvors currently have significant
marine resources on station to attend to any further lost
containers. Current predictive modelling is suggesting any
lost containers will drift in a southeasterly direction,
away from the Astrolabe Reef.
Normal shipping movements
are continuing. Ships arriving and departing the port should
exercise extreme caution and maintain a vigilant
lookout.
