Crash closes two lanes on Auckland’s Newmarket Viaduct
The NZ Transport Agency says a crash on the southbound lanes of the Newmarket Viaduct on Auckland’s Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) has blocked two lanes, and it is advising drivers to avoid this section of the network.
A light van and a truck have collided, blocking the two centres lanes.
The NZTA’s Regional Assets Manager, Steve Mutton, says it may take some time for emergency services to clear the vehicles and re-open the closed lanes.
“Peak hour traffic is building, and we would ask people to drive with patience and care, and to consider using alternative routes for their travel. Delays on the motorway near the viaduct could be considerable,” Mr Mutton says.
