Otago Flood Update
Many Otago rivers remain high as a result of snowmelt, and some light to moderate rainfall. The Pomahaka and Taieri rivers and the Clutha river/mata-au downstream of Roxburgh are still rising, while the Manuherikia River is high and steady.
Although no significant rainfall is expected in central of eastern Otago over the next 24 hours, river levels will continue to remain high, as high flows from the upper parts of these catchments drain towards the coast.
The warm northwest conditions are expected to continue through until tonight.
ORC flood
managers will continue to monitor the
situation.
Up-to-date river level and rainfall
information is available on the ORC Water Info site (www.water.otago.govt.nz) or by phoning
0800 426 463.
Further information on flood hazard can be found in the Otago Natural Hazards Database. Flood alerts can also be received via Twitter. See www.orc.govt.nz
