Crashes disrupt traffic on two Auckland motorway links
The NZ Transport Agency says two crashes are disrupting mid-afternoon traffic on the Northwestern Motorway (State Highway 16) at Parnell and on the Southern Motorway (SH1) between Gillies Avenue and Khyber Pass.
SH16 is closed in both directions between Parnell Rise and Quay Street while a container truck that has crashed is shifted. The road is expected to re-open at about 4pm.
On the Southern Motorway, a non-injury crash that involved a bus, a truck and a car blocked two of the northbound lanes.
Although the vehicles have been removed, a slow moving queue of traffic has extended down the motorway as far as the Princess Street interchange in Otahuhu.
The Transport Agency says it will take some time for congestion to clear and it advises people to either delay their journeys or use alternative routes.
