Auckland’s Southern Motorway closed after Police chase
The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers that a section of Auckland’s Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) northbound is closed between the Drury and Takanini interchanges, including the Papakura interchange.
The closure of the northbound lanes follows a Police pursuit.
North bound traffic is being diverted off the motorway at Drury on to the Great South Road through Papakura. Congestion on Great South Road is heavy. The Transport Agency advises people heading north to either delay their journeys or allow more time for their travel.
All southbound lanes of the Southern Motorway remain open. The Transport Agency, however, appeals to drivers not to slow when passing the Police scene to avoid any build-up of congestion that will impact on safety and travel times.
