Tukituki Catchment Proposal –Board of Inquiry Hearing

Environmental Management Services Ltd Director and Principal Planner – Stephen Daysh

Stephen Daysh continued giving evidence this morning, with further questions from Counsel for Royal Forest & Bird Society on Ruataniwha Water Storage Scheme conditions.

Counsel for Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated questioned Mr Daysh on the process of deciding to take RWSS and Plan Change 6 through an EPA Board of Inquiry. He also asked Mr Daysh about iwi consultation through the process of developing RWSS conditions, and how decisions were made on who to consult with.

HBRC/HBRIC Ltd has now concluded its case.

Verbal submission from Fonterra Co-operative Group/DairyNZ

Counsel for Fonterra & DairyNZ told the board it supports the approach taken by HBRC and consider Tukituki Plan Change & Ruataniwha Water Storage Scheme conditions are the most appropriate way to achieve sustainable management in Tukituki Catchment.

Verbal submission from Federated Farmers of New Zealand

Counsel for Federated Farmers of New Zealand told the board it generally supports the Proposed Plan Change 6, the Ruataniwha Water Storage Scheme and the components that make up the Tukituki Catchment Proposal as a whole. It urged the board to approve the various applications.

The board adjourned and will resume on Monday 2 December 2013.
