Whangarei to host 2015 i-SITE Annual conference.
At the 2014 i-SITE annual conference in Dunedin last night, it was announced that next year’s annual conference will be held in Whangarei.
140 delegates representing i-SITEs throughout New Zealand will attend the 2015 conference in mid-September 2015, staying 3 days in the city. As well as attending the conference, delegates will participate in a comprehensive pre and post conference programme to familiarise themselves with the visitor attractions throughout Whangarei District.
District Promotions and Tourism Manager Paul Davis said Whangarei’s bid was supported by Venues and Events Whangarei, and was successful against five competing bids from five other locations. He said the conference represented a big opportunity for Whangarei to show off it’s visitor industry and attractions to these influential sellers of travel throughout New Zealand.
i-SITE is New Zealand’s official visitor information network, with over 80 individual offices nationwide. The network is coordinated by Tourism New Zealand, while all information centres are operated by local organisations underpinned by local government.
