A series of workshops on the Biodiversity Strategy next week are an opportunity for individuals and volunteer groups involved in ecology and restoration projects to add their ideas.
The first Biodiversity Strategy for Hawke’s Bay is in draft form and the workshops will be open discussions outlining the scope of the draft strategy and providing a forum for other contributions.
The interactive workshops will be held in Wairoa, Monday 1 December, Central Hawke’s Bay on 2 December and in Napier and Havelock North on 3 December.
Registrations are essential online at www.hbrc.govt.nz (keyword: Biodiv) by Friday 28 November. There are more details on line including strategy documents from other regions for comparison.
Twenty-one organisations have been involved in the Steering Group developing the strategy. After public feedback is considered, the Strategy will be finalised in early 2015 with the signing of a Biodiversity Accord. The Accord will be how agencies will commit to the strategy.
