Tukituki Plan Change Discussion at Haumoana
Tukituki Plan Change Discussion at Haumoana
Rural landowners in the Lower Tukituki catchment have an opportunity to discuss the changes coming out of the Tukituki Plan Change 6.
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is hosting the meeting at Haumoana Hall on Thursday 4 December starting at 4pm. HBRC staff will provide an outline of the plan change and then open the floor to a discussion.
This discussion will be open to everyone affected by the plan change, including lifestyle blocks over 10 ha and farms over 4 ha and their land management practices. The new rules and policies are aimed at improving river flows and aquatic habitat and water quality through management of land use.
Farmers in the Upper Tukituki catchment have already attended a series of hall meetings at Ongaonga, Takapau, Elsthorpe and Ashley-Clinton.
Discussion has been wide ranging but focused on practical and realistic solutions for farmers’ land management practices.
Most of the discussions have been about preparing farm environment plans, the need for fencing to exclude stock from waterways, and when resource consents would be needed. HBRC is investigating with farm industry groups the option of using farm planning templates.
