Hunter rescued from Urewera National Park
The Rotorua based BayTrust Rescue helicopter was dispatched to Midway Hut in the Urewera National park at 3pm today, to pick up a 30yr old male who had fallen and seriously injured his leg. He was on his own and another hunting party found gear at the hut and had not seen anyone else in the area. They started searching for a man and found him further up stream. They stabilised the man and were able to relocate him to the hut where the Baytrust rescue Helicopter was able to land and pick him up. As he had been on his own for 30hours at this stage, and due to the remote location, the Helicopter was used.
