United States Air Force aircraft visiting New Zealand to participate in Exercise Southern Katipo 2015 conducted a flypast at Base Ohakea today. Two C-17 Globemasters and three C-130 Hercules took part after performing an air drop at Raumai Range.
Exercise Southern Katipo is the New Zealand Defence Force’s major military exercise and occurs every two years. Personnel from New Zealand and eight other countries - Australia, Canada, Fiji, France, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, the United Kingdom, and the United States are taking part in the month-long international exercise in the Buller, Tasman and Marlborough regions of the South Island.
