Westland Recovery Update #1
Westland Recovery Update #1
WESTLAND DISTRICT COUNCIL – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westland’s newly appointed Recovery Manager is looking to local residents and businesses to share information with the Council to help build a picture of the district’s needs in the aftermath of last Thursday’s storm.
Jim Ebenhoh is emphasising that the move from response to recovery will ensure ongoing support for those who need it.
“We are here for the long haul,” he says. “It will help us gain a full picture of what support the community needs if people share information with us.”
The Council’s staff and contractors are already out and about, gathering information on the welfare of communities as well as the state of its infrastructure. “We are out there assessing the situation but there will be things that we are not yet aware of in relation to our residents and businesses, and that’s where we are looking to the locals to contribute to the picture.”
Mr Ebenhoh says assistance is available to those who need it. Anyone needing immediate support or who is concerned about family, neighbours or friends needing assistance can call the Westland District Council on 756 9010 or 0800 474 834.
