Closures continue north and south of Kaikōura and the inland access road, latest update

Kia ora people – an update on access into and out of Kaikōura:

· The inland road (Route 70) Mt Lyford to Peketa will open at 3 pm today.

· SH1 South of Kaikōura is likely to reopen at 9.30 am tomorrow morning – we will confirm that tomorrow morning around that time.

· SH1 North of Kaikōura, in fact between Clarence and Mangamaunu, will be reassessed tomorrow - midday Thursday.

Thanks to all road users for taking care on the Alternate Route via the Lewis Pass while SH1 is closed and to local people, farmers and businesses who have had a lot of inconvenience today with the inland road closed until now/ 3 pm from Mt Lyford to Peketa.
