SH35 between Ōptiki and Gisborne is now open
The NZ Transport Agency is advising SH35 between Ōptiki and Gisborne is now open.
Transport Agency Regional Transport System Manager, Rob Campbell says we have experienced a significant amount of rain in the region over the past few days and at midnight last night SH35 closed again due to another slip at Motu Bluff.
“Our contractors have worked hard this morning to clear up this latest slip and get the road open. There is still a lot of cleaning up and work to be done and some parts of SH35 are only operating as one lane.
We remind motorists to be cautious while travelling and to take extra care at night when it becomes harder to see,” says Mr Campbell.
We will continue to provide updates on our social media and the Transport Agency website.
The NZ Transport Agency thanks road users for their understanding and patience.
